A Lot of Lasts Before A Lot of Firsts

Yesterday I wrapped up most of my work, so with just a few tiny details to conclude early next week, I am preparing to enjoy my last week of "life before children." Everyone keeps telling me to go to that last movie, eat that last meal in a restaurant, read that last novel. My goodness, does life really change that much that all of these activities become luxuries? I guess I'm about to find out. So, today I had "Me Day." I grabbed my morning coffee at Bros. K and headed for a very relaxing pedicure (gotta have pretty toes for the delivery of my boy!). I went out to lunch and then went to the movies and ate a junior popcorn by myself. I went to Trader Joe's and walked up and down the aisles examining every product that caught my eye. I walked through Marshall's, Loehmann's, and Nordstrom Rack, eyeing clothes with longing and wondering how far off it will be until the new styles fit my new body. I found my favorite On Gossamer undies on sale for $3 - $5 each, so I stocked up for the future. I capped the afternoon off with an iced latte and a sore body from all the walking.

It was a fun day, but I realized that since Joe works on Saturdays and I often entertain myself, that it's nothing that I don't do on a fairly frequent basis. I often spend my Saturdays wandering from shop to shop at my leisure, and many times I do it because I'm bored. Maybe not being able to go to the movies or shopping, or reading that next novel, won't feel like such a sacrifice now that I'll have a little friend to hang out with. My free time is about to become baby time.
