This weekend marked the end of summer weather as we know it in Chicago. On Sept. 14, I made the transition...to pants. After a summer of long and flowing skirt-wearing that was oh-so-forgiving, I was forced to reveal my thighs in all their glory as I slipped into my snug pantalones. Oh well. Can anyone say tights? It should be cold enough for those in the next month, so let the squeezing and lifting begin!
The cool weather on Friday and Saturday was perfect for the yard sale I collaborated on with my friends Judy, Justin, and Brian. Joe was able to join us on Saturday for his inauguration into our yearly yard sale club, and a delightful time was had by all. In addition to the joy we all felt as we watched our junk being hauled away, we were impressed by five-year-old Mackenzie's business acumen as she sold $25.40 worth of cider, hot chocolate, and pumpkin break from her roadside stand. All told, the yard sale was a success and we walked away with $254!! Not bad. Now we have some spending money for our anniversary trip to NYC in a couple of weeks.
Taking advantage of the beautiful weekend, Joe and I headed to Division Street in Wicker Park yesterday afternoon, catching a street fair and perusing the numerous shops, including Coco Rouge, a gorgeous chocolate shop that serves exotic flavors. I love this neighborhood and can see why people live here. It has wide sidewalks, cute cafes (Milk and Honey, Crust), and is generally perfect for strolling and bumping into neighbors. We finished out the day with a visit to Adobo Grill where they were running their weekend Mole Fest. Yum.
