Growing Like a Baby Should

Gavin just had his nine month check-up, which I cannot believe. He's now as old as his time of gestation! I won't bore you with how incredibly cute, amazing, and brilliant-for-his-age he is. That's a given with any of our children--right, ladies? But I will tell you that he can now sit very well, wave hello (thanks for working with him on that, Grandma), eat cheerios and other "real" food, and say Mama and Dada and "hey." He also has a sunny disposition and a great sense of humor and works really hard to make us laugh. Like today when I peered into the french door leading into his bedroom to see if he was napping and caught him staring at me through the window pane, pacifier in mouth. I stared back at him for a minute and made a funny face and then we both started laughing. Really, how can a nine-month-old understand non-verbals so well? It just amazes me.

I should be writing all of this down more than I do, but it's hard to keep track of all of the precious little "firsts." Like the fact that he stood for a few seconds today, leaning against the couch for support. Or that he crawled backwards just a little bit yesterday. Tiny things that are seemingly insignificant in the grand scheme of life, but can make a mama so proud in the moment.

Gavin's nine month stats were on track with his personal growth curve and he is now 18.6 lbs (10-25%) and 29 inches (75%). His head is in the 75-90%! Must mean he has a lot of brains. Funny, I always thought his head looked big in the ultrasound pictures.
